Introduction to Robert S.
Mason, Jr., P.E. “Things
may come to those who wait, but only the
things left by those who hustle.” He didn’t
wait for things to happen at Florida
Power Corporation when he joined the utility 35 years ago. He held several key positions, moving up to
manager of Commercial/Industrial Energy Services. While in that position, Bob was instrumental
in the development of the nation’s first full-service utility power-quality
program for all customers. These
accomplishments were recognized when Florida Progress Corporation, Florida
Power’s parent company, formed a new subsidiary, Bayboro Consulting Group, naming Bob President. Bob developed Bayboro into a nationwide
utility-services company marketing business-to-consumer and
business-to-business utility services and programs. Bob joined
the nation’s consumer-owned power systems via his work with Bayboro. He became Manager of Training,
Certification, and Energy Marketing for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, focusing on
development of Director Education, Key Accounts programming, Market Planning
and Competitive Issues. He is a
well-known advocate of utilities providing more diversified, competitively
based and technology-oriented services to their customers. Today, with EnergyUnited, the North Carolina-based
utility-services company serving the needs of residential and business
customers, Bob continues his interests in assisting and leading this business
into the exciting era of industry restructuring. Bob is a
graduate of the Bob enjoys his professional
affiliation with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and is a
registered Professional Engineer.
Community participation also plays an important role in his life. He is a graduate and past alumni board
member of Chamber of Commerce “Leadership” programs and was active with
Kiwanis International. He has also
served in the Music, astronomy and boating rate
high on Bob’s list of hobbies and he enjoys family life with his wife of 34
years, Yolanda, and their two children, 24-year old Sarah and 17-year old
Bobby. |
